There are a few steps that you need in order to ensure that you pet is properly licensed in the state of New Jersey. More details can be obtained about licensing your pet's below.
Report a Stray
The quickest way to report any stray animal is to contact the East Greenwich Police Department at (856) 423-4322. You can also contact Gloucester County Animal Shelter at (856) 881-2828.
Dog Census
The State of New Jersey requires each municipality to conduct a dog census every two years. A representative will be out knocking on doors asking for information on dogs living in your home.
License Your Pet
Licenses are required for any dog in East Greenwich Township that meets the following criteria: Either 7 months of age or has permanent teeth and, Is kept for more than 10 days.
Licenses may be obtained at the clerk’s office in the municipal building 9:00 AM to 4:30 PM Monday through Friday.
The municipal building is located at 159 Democrat Road in Mickleton, NJ. Licenses may also be obtained by mail or by placing the below listed items in the “drop box” at the left side of the front door of the municipal building. Self-addressed stamped envelope Copy of rabies certificate valid thru October of the current year, Copy of spay/neuter information Name, color, breed and age of dog, Your telephone number and email address Appropriate fees.

Important Information
*IMPORTANT* – Dog licenses are RENEWED EVERY JANUARY, and are considered LATE on March 1st of each year (see fees and late fees listed below).
Note: Any dog brought into East Greenwich from another state that meets the above criteria must be re-licensed. Dogs brought into East Greenwich from another NJ municipality need to re-license upon their current licenses’ expiration.
What You Need
Whether using mail or the drop box, please enclose the following. All information will be returned in a self-addressed stamped envelope.
Copy of rabies certificate valid thru October of the current year, a copy of spay/neuter information, Name, color, breed and age of dog, your telephone number, email address, and appropriate fees.
How Much Does It Cost?
1 Year Dog License:
$10.00 for spayed/ neutered dogs
$15.00 for non-spayed/ non-neutered dogs
$10.00 late fee assessed as of March 1st
$ fine as per State statue for each dog if summoned by police for failure to license.

You may also call the Gloucester County Animal Shelter at (856) 881-2828.

They may leave a notice in your door or mail you a reminder to license your dog. Owners must respond in a timely manor or risk a summonses for unlicensed dog.
